Misty Morning Throw by Amy Kate of The Graceful Tangle

Hello there! I’m Amy Kate, a young but passionate knitter, crocheter, Christian, and college student. I learned to knit and crochet when I was about ten, but really fell in love with both arts at age 12. My career goal is to be able to run all things The Graceful Tangle full time! YouTube, Instagram, Partnerships with companies, and of course, designing patterns. The year of 2020 has shown huge growth for me. I made myself the challenge to release one pattern (knit or crochet) every single week. Let me tell you, this is a loft goal. However, I have worked hard and learned SO much throughout the process.

Not only that, but I also graduated high school in the Spring, and am now in my first year of college, studying Accounting Technology. Balancing all these things can be difficult, but by His grace I am finding my way. I hope you join me on this journey by following me on Instagram and YouTube!

The Misty Morning Throw was designed for just that…misty mornings out on the front porch or curled up by a fire. We all need that special blanket to help us stay cozy on chilly mornings, and this is just that!

This blanket is made corner to corner style. This means that you will start at one corner and work increases until it reaches your desired width, then decrease back down to form a square. Because of this, it is extremely easy to customize the size of your blanket. If you’d like a smaller blanket, perhaps for a baby, work fewer increase rows, but if you’d like a larger blanket, work more!

It is important to note that altering the size of your blanket will affect your required yardage. My favorite way to make a corner to corner blanket is to figure out how much yarn I have total, say, 10 skeins, and then divide that by two. Ten divided by two is five, so I will use about five skeins on the increase section, and then use the last five to decrease back down. I would recommend stopping increasing just before you reach your half way mark in terms of yarn amount, because it would be terrible to induce an unnecessary game of yarn chicken!

I am so grateful to be sharing this pattern with you, and I hope you enjoy it. Happy crocheting!

● One size is given, however you can easily customize this pattern to create any size throw!

● The ch 2 at the beginning of each row does NOT count as a stitch

● The sample blanket measures approximately 50” square. Keep in mind that due to the beautiful weight that this blanket will have, it is likely to stretch just a bit.

● It is not necessary to achieve a specific gauge for this pattern, however if you’d like your throw to be the same size as the sample I suggest checking!

Finishing:

Cut yarn, and weave in all your ends. I chose to add tassels to the corners of my blanket, and if you’d like you can do the same! If you’re unsure on how to make or attach tassels, use this tutorial: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CGABUj4psPv/
