The Picot Pillow Pattern by Ali of The Turtle Trunk

Hi! I’m Ali and I am the hands behind The Turtle Trunk! I am the wife of an Airman and mama and stepmama to two beautiful girls. My passions include cooking, photography, and of course crochet! My crochet style varies widely between colorful amigurumi toys, wearable pieces for the family, and modern home decor accessories. In today’s post, I will be sharing an original design of the latter.

The Picot Pillow is a modern throw pillow that is simple to make but looks sophisticated in any room. The picot single crochet creates a fun texture that works up quickly and gives the design a bumpy feel. Bernat Maker Home Dec is the perfect yarn for this project. It comes in a variety of colors and shows off the stitch definition beautifully.

This design is made up of two identical panels that will be joined with a single crochet border. The instructions are written for a 14″ x 14″ pillow but the size can easily be adjusted to any size!

The PSC will be worked on the WS so when the bumps it creates are pushed behind, they will be sticking out on the RS, creating a beautiful texture.

Insert your hook into the designated ST. Pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the 1st loop on your hook. Yarn over and pull through the 1st loop again. Yarn over and pull through the 1st loop once more. Yarn over and pull through both loops on hook. Push the CH 3 you just created behind and work the next ST. The last photo shows the RS view.

After the first panel is done: tie off and make the second panel.
After the second panel is done: do NOT tie off and move onto Closing & Finishing.

Closing & Finishing

Place pieces together with both the RS facing out. SC pieces together, working 1 SC into each ST across the top, then in each row down the left, then back across the bottom. Insert the pillow form and close by SC up the final side. Tie off yarn and weave in end.

And you’re all done! I hope enjoyed this pattern and love your new pillow! Don’t forget to tag @theturtletrunk in your finished photos so I can see all your beautiful pillows. Thank you so much to Elisabeth of Desamour Designs for having me as a guest on her blog and thank you for reading my post!
