What You Need to Make FZ Hexies Ripple Baby Blanket

Here’s a list of the supplies you’ll need for this crochet baby blanket.

THE YARN: FZ Hexies Ripple Baby Blanket uses yarn from Serendipitous Wool Co. in her Graffiti collection. 2 full skeins of Graffiti Radicle, 1 full skein of Graffiti Tropical on her Agni base. DK weight; Agni 100% superwash Merino Wool; 231yds/211m/100g. 3 mini skeins of Graffiti Night Sky and 3 mini skeins of Graffiti Gray Whale for the body. 1 mini skein in each of the following: Graffiti Night Sky, Graffiti Gray WShale, Graffiti Origins, Graffit Lagoon, Graffiti Tropical, Graffiti Ratnakara, Graffiti Duckling, Graffiti Roses, & Graffiti Superbloom on her Agni base. DK weight; Agni N 100% superwash Merino Wool; 49yds/44.8m/20g.
- I used approximately 1428 yards in total.

- Mighty Stitch is a superwash combining 20% Superwash Wool and 80% Acrylic, this yarn is perfect for baby blankets. Easy-care yarn in a wide range of gorgeous hues, perfect to gift to busy parents.
- Wool of the Andes Spun from Peruvian wool, the strong fiber has an excellent balance of structure, loft, and drape that serves a wide variety of uses.
- Wool of the Andes Superwash is the same worsted weight Peruvian wool, specially treated to prevent felting so you can enjoy all the warmth, structure, and durability of wool with the convenience of machine washing making it particularly excellent for projects that are heavily used.
- Swish is a machine-washable yarn that is super soft and worthy of being worn against a baby’s skin.
THE HOOK: 3.75mm| US F5 Crochet Hook. For this project, I used this crochet hook as it has just the right amount of grip, comfort, and glide for hours of crocheting.
THE NOTIONS: You will also need a pair of scissors, a tapestry needle, and blocking supplies. I used a garment steamer, these blocking mats, and these rust-proof blocking pins to block my project

Size (after blocking): Width of 32 inches and a length of 38 inches

Gauge: 21 sts and 9 rows = 4″ over Ripple Stitch pattern, blocked.

Pattern

Hexies (Make 37)

If using minis to make the hexies, each 20 g/47/47yds mini skein will make 4 hexies. I used yarn from one of the minis used for the body to make the last hexies.

I arranged my hexies to create a gradient of some sort in the middle of the blanket. Play around with the layout by mixing all the colors to make each hexie stand out more in your blanket. Click to download the image below to plan your layout.

Row 1 : (Ch2, dc, ch1. [dc2tog,ch1] 5 times) in MR. Close MR and join with a sl st at the top of ch2.

Row 2: Ch2, dc in same st.[(dc,ch2,dc) in ch1-sp. Dc2tog in next dc2tog] 5 times. (dc,ch2,dc) in last ch1-sp. Join with a sl st. Turn.

Row 3: (Ch2, dc3tog)on top of dc2tog. sc in dc. (Sc, ch2, sc) in ch2-sp. Sc in dc. [Dc4tog on top of dc2tog. Sc in next. (Sc, ch2, sc) in ch2-sp. Sc in next] 5 times. Join with a sl st. Turn.

I recommend you wet block your hexies before joining them together.

If you’re using multiple colors as with the sample, use 2 full skeins for the MC and 1 full skein for CC, along with 6 mini skeins in 2 different colors. Rows 1-10 with MC, rows 11-16 with 3 mini skeins (I used gray whale for one side and Night Sky for the other), & rows 17-21 with CC.

Attach MC to bottom right dc after ch2-sp of corner hexie.

Row 1: Ch2 in dc where MC is attached to hexie and dc in next 6 dc. (dc,ch2,dc) in ch2-sp. Dc in next 7 dc. Dc2tog in ch2 space connecting the 2 hexies. [Dc in next 7 sts. (Dc, ch2,dc) in ch2-sp. Dc in next 7. Dc2tog in ch2 space connecting the 2 hexies.] 10 times. Dc in next 7 sts. (Dc, ch2,dc) in ch2-sp. Dc in next 7. Dc2tog.

Attach MC to the other side of the hexies with wrong side facing you. Repeat row 1-21 of body.

Steam block blanket to size.
