The POC Makers Live Series by Noorain

A week ago, I had the pleasure of joining Noorain from @noorsknits to kick off her POC Makers Live Series on Instagram.

I had the most wonderful conversation with her. She such a lively and warm person. I cannot for the life of me remember how I started following Noorain but I vividly remember watching one of her stories while she was visiting family in India for a wedding. All the beautiful saris and the little things she spoke of that reminded me of my own home made me reach out to her. As they say, the rest is history.

Noorain started this amazing series as a mean to showcase the many amazing POC makers and Mama makers in the fiber community. As POC designers, I have found that it may be a harder to get seen, accepted, or acknowledged. Our work is often overlooked and many amazing designers who happen to be POC are often buried in the abyss of Instagram with little to no recognition for their work. I decided to join her live series because I wanted both our voices heard. In this community, we need to stitck together n order to see change and growth. You can read all about the live interview on her website here.

You can watch the live video via Noorsknits YouTube Channel.

If you’re a POC and/or mama designer or maker and would love to be featured on this live series, tap here and fill out your information for my friend.

As listed on Noorain’s website, here are some of the Benefits of doing this Live series

  • More eyes on our content: both your followers will get to know and see each other’s contents.
  • Increase both your chances of collaboration while fostering a sense of community and togetherness.
  • Make more friends in the maker community – this is one of her main inspirations for starting this series.
  • A chance for you both to share knowledge, resources, and experiences so you can grow your businesses/brands.

You can find Noorain’s Instagram and her blog. Don’t hesitate to stop by and say hello.
